Messy Artist

Acrylic and ink, with newspaper clippings on canvas 16x20

This first started out as an experiment of inks and acrylics to see which ones drip better and easier. It turned into quite a fun process, and took quite a while to do, since each color had to dry. It's still not finished, I'm thinking about adding some sort of figure or object...just not sure what yet.

The Valley

Acrylic on Masonite 16x20

This was intended to be a very moody, dark painting. It reminds me of what I think the Valley of Hell would look like....surrounded by heat and fire.

Mysterious City

Acrylic on Masonite 8x10

This was actually just a painting I did over another painting, which is why there is so much texture and movement. I love blues and greens; this subject kinda takes on an underwater or out of this world feeling/mood.

Color Wheel

Acrylic on Masonite 11x14

This was my fun version of a color wheel. I added iridescent and interference colors to each layer to give it that shine.

Color Theory

Acrylic on Bristol Paper 8x8 framed

This was actually a color study project in my color class. It mainly was to do a monochromatic painting, but I also added the complimentary orange to the background to make it stand out. I just love color.

A Modern Bust

Acrylic on Masonite 9X12 framed

The reference picture was taken by me in Paris at The Lourve. My friend and I were taking "nose shots" of all the manly sculptures. It was lots of fun. Then, after putting the picture into photoshop, I got a great outline of the features and altered the colors to create a dramatic and fun contrast.

This one was really hard to photograph, because the paint was so glossy. But it looks so stunning in a metal neon green frame.

Blue Moon

Acrylic on Paper & Canvas 12x24

This was an experimentation with dripping acrylic over paper sheets from a french book. The ripples from the paper as well as the text draws the eye down, but also makes the watered paint dance in different directions. I wanted to paint the eeriest tree I could find, to fit the overall tone of the piece.

Solar Sun

Acrylic on Masonite 5x7

I just was experimenting with the colors on the funky textured background....and it came out like a sun!

Sunburst

Acrylic on masonite- 5x7

This piece really depicts my enjoyment for sunshine, especially when you can see the rays coming through the clouds.
