Along the Arno

Acrylic on Canvas 18X36- SOLD

This was painted from a picture I took while visiting the Arno river in Florence, Italy. I was so inspired by the architecture and artwork in Europe.

Between Heaven and Hell

Acrylic on Canvas (Triptych)

These canvases are my interpretation of the feelings of hell, heaven and being somewhere in between on earth. It's amazing what emotions and feelings different colors will bring out.

The Sole Survivor

Acrylic on Canvas (Triptych)
This is probably one of my favorite recent pieces. Not only did I have fun with these colors, but the meaning of this piece strikes a chord with me. I wanted to portray the gloominess of the city that is created by pollution of man...but to also show the hope that lies outside of the city with the lone tree.

Matty II

Acrylic on Canvas 8x10- SOLD
Every show that I have had in Palo Alto, my future brother-in-law insists that I name one of my pieces after him. So, this is the second "Matty"; an interpretation of hot August days.

Aurora Galaxy

Acrylic on Masonite 18x24- SOLD

This was the piece that I was asked about the most at my last show. "How did you get those bubbles on there?" All of those raised circles are blobs/drops of paint that just dried and became hard. It created a very different look/texture with those bright colors that I used to create a mystical, galaxy feel.

Surrounded

Acrylic on Masonite 18x24- SOLD

This piece definitely was inspired by my love for nature and trees. Growing up surrounded by the forest, I loved getting lost in the woods with the birds and whispering wind. My favorite part of this artistically, is the trunk of the trees. By using gel medium, I was able to create a texture that mimics the bark.

Stained Dragonfly

Acrylic on Newspaper 8X8

After finding some German Newspapers on eBay, I love incorporating them into my work. The text, the color, the structured look of the columns....its different from my normal style.

Electric Paradise

Acrylic on Canvas 11x14

I was just having fun with some new flourescent paints, since I love such bright colors. Whenever I visit the beach, I just can't get over the natural beauty of the deep blues and beautiful sunsets.

An Undiscovered Planet

Water Soluble Oil on Canvas

I was experimenting for the first time in this medium, and really liked the creaminess of the paint.

Green Acres

Acrylic on Cavas 9x12 -SOLD

This piece took quite a while, as there is a lot of detail and I wanted to get everything right. This one is displayed in my parents house- they are such great patrons.

A Sun's Flower

Acrylic on canvas 24x36- SOLD
(Please forgive the poor picture taking--I was still in the learning stages when taking this one. )

This was originally painted back when I lived at home in highschool. After moving to the Bay Area and learning about the correct "artist" paints that I should be using, I repainted it. It became the first painting that I was actually proud of and satisfied with.

Artwork by Alisha Maguire

So, blogging is like the easiest thing to do since sliced bread. Since I am not completely computer savvy enough to have my own webpage, I figured that creating a specific blog for my artwork would be a smart idea- since the only place I have my pictures posted are on myspace, and not everyone loves myspace.

All of these pieces are originals. I have not gotten into making prints, although that is something that I am definitely interested in doing. This means, that unfortunately I do not have any prints of the sold paintings for sale. I can however do some commission pieces that are similar to the originals. Feel free to ask about prices.

So, without further adieu, these are just a few pieces of me and what I find creative.
