Summer is over....

...so you know what that means! Less time for me to play...and too much time spent working and putting my nose in a textbook. Boo.

But I have been able to get some things ready for the upcoming show in November! I am excited to be doing the miniature gift fair at the Triton Museum again this year. Hoping for a good turn out in search of homemade holiday gifts!

Already hard at work on more and more pendants!

Midsummer Art Celebration

Getting ready for the next show at the Triton Museum! Their beautiful sculpture gardens are a great place to spend the day looking at tons of artists while enjoying great music, food and drinks.

Most of the same artwork that I presented at Open Studios will also be one display. Hoping to finish a couple new pieces for the show!

Here are some of my latest pieces that were shown at Open Studios....

"Exploring the Skies"
Acrylic on Cradled Masonite
- As you may notice, I am infatuated with these tones... and went through a hot air balloon phase at one point -

"Minnedosa"
Acrylic on Canvas
- This was the first of landscape series, which were later named after different towns of Canadian Prairies....which is where some of my grandparents grew up -

"Drumheller"
Acrylic on Canvas

"Spectacular Show"
Acrylic on Collaged Canvas
- This was inspired by the book/movie Water For Elephants -

"Sacred Lotus"
Acrylic on Collaged Canvas
- One of my favorite flowers -

If you are in the are on June 18th, come by the Triton Museum! Free parking and admission!

Open Studios...after the storm

Unfortunately, there was a storm the first weekend of our Open Studios that made us cancel Sunday's show. We did have a joyful Saturday in Los Altos Hills at Karen Druker's beautiful chateau. With delicious wine, snacks and an interactive painting, how could you not have fun!?

The second weekend, which was at Maralyn Miller's quaint little spot in Los Gatos, had much better weather! It was very peaceful; a great way to spend a weekend outside!

Overall, Open Studios was a great experience as I got to meet a lot of new people, and see a lot of friendly faces.

A month to go....

The Spring Miniature Show is only a month away, and while I have accomplished quite a lot over the last couple of months, there is still plenty of prep work! So needless to say, I am starting to reach for the panic button a bit. School is starting to pick up, so that doesn't make things any easier!

Here's a sneak peek at some of my latest pieces...some a spin-off of older favorites...

Similar to The Giving Tree....title undetermined....although this one does kind of seem like it is "blooming"

Here is the finished product from the earlier post....took me a while to figure out how I wanted to finish it off.... digging the stylized birdies.

And another version of Flutter By....with a different species of butterfly.

If you're in the area, would love to see you! The museum is always filled with various artists and reasonable prices! I usually end up doing quite a few trades!

New Year...New stuff

Happy 2011!
January is production month, as it is time that I have off from school. Therefore I have taken advantage of the free time and started multiple pieces for the upcoming shows this year.

This little owl was the first one I finished.

This piece is almost done I think....you probably can't tell very well with the lighting, but the upper right area has hand-written text regarding emotional thoughts. This piece was inspired by my psychology studies....schizophrenia in particular.

This piece is still a work in progress, but I thought I would share the beginning stages.

Here's hoping for more pieces to get finished over the next couple weeks....coz once school starts, my time will definitely be limited!

Success at the Museum

The Holiday Miniature Show was quite the success. There were plenty of great artists and ideas for Christmas gifts.

I was in a room surrounded by sculptures. This awesome piece was right in front of my table...I couldn't believe how closely it resembled real wood...when it was made out of bronze!!!

More Miniatures!

IT'S THAT TIME AGAIN!

The Triton's Miniature Show is back and this time, ready for the holidays.
November 6th and 7th from 10-5 both days
At the Triton Museum in Santa Clara

I haven't had as much time as I would have liked to prepare for this show, as I have been engulfed in psychology studies. But there are some new pieces that I will be showing.

Here is a taste of some new pieces, but I am so disorganized that I haven't even named these yet! So...to be continued within the next 2 weeks!
